My first oil painting - Peaches and Plums

Still a work in progress but I’m getting close to finishing as I’d like to start a portrait. I started with warm colors as the first layer and worked my way up to the third layer now on the leaves and plums. Still a few more sessions to go for this but I’m super happy with how my first oil painting is turning out. I’d appreciate any feedback / criticism. Thank you!

Updated portrait of my grand daughter

Good suggestion by a fellow artist redditor and now I’m pleased. The technique is totally different from my usual portraits. Involves charcoal sketch ( or you can charcoal the whole canvas and pull out the lights to create your sketch ); fixative on the drawing ; burnt umber imprimatura; grisaille in multiple applications ; color in multiple applications. Oil the surface between each pigment layer to awaken the paint after it’s dry-ish a couple of days. Labor intensive but what art isn’t ?

Help with wrinkles

I know just enough to know I’m missing something regardling wrinkles (and a lot more, given I’m new to oil painting). Anyone have any tips or tricks for painting in wrinkles to not look so much like I put in lines…which kind of is what I did?

I am unsure about pricing as a young/new artist

Hello, this is my first ever post, and I don’t know really what to say. But I am working on my largest piece, it’s 1200mmx900mm (like 4x2.9 feet) oil paint (but I guess that obvious?) I have already spent about 25 hours on it with under painting and first coats pre-detail and I’m really unsure what a fair price would be.

First figure painting

Hi all, 4 months into my painting journey. I know my edges are too sharp in places, values are out in the face and dress but am glad to be making progress.

How worried should I be about these?

I found a lot of old oil paints that a local artist’s daughter in law sold to me for a great price. I am a painter myself but not super familiar with using older lead based paints. I also immediately washed my hands after handling, ha.

I realize gloves are a good precaution for using but is there anything else I should know?

First oil painting, need help.

I don't know what more to paint in this to put life into it , I painted red flowers but ended up mixing them.

Almost finished, tips?

I want to make it pop. I find myself constantly being too lazy and we’re using the same brush when it really should be changing brush sizes and types. Besides that and making my highlights pop a little more more tips.

Still new to oils, trying water for the first time

This is the third oil painting I've done. Struggled a lot with the water so I tried my best at following a tutorial. In general I'm happy with it, but know it could be much better. Any critiques are welcome!
