It’s for sale about a mile from me and they’re selling it for 1k. It definitely needs a valve cover gasket, and it’s got a leak in the coolant but you can’t find it due to everything being covered in oil. Needs new fuel cap and ball joints. Possibly rack and pinion.
It starts perfectly fine, it drove fine, braked fine, didnt overheat, no engine lights turned on or off, exhaust is quiet. Powered windows, door, and hatch all work even on a downhill slope. They stop closing if something blocks it. Speakers, radio, cruise, all extras work. Cokes with spare tire, no rust underneath car or underneath carpet. Windshield wipers and jets work.
Gonna need to replace some of the torn seats, steering wheel, door cards arm rest, mirrors, front grill and bumper, everything’s in good condition. Lot of cosmetic stuff to be fixed and repaired.
What I’m looking for is what would need to be replaced on such a high mileage car? I’ve seen talks about the water pump, timing belt and associated parts(a kit). I know one valve cover has to be replaced. It doesn’t burn any smoke and I can barely hear lifter tick. I will be replacing all fluids. I’ll asses all bushings and mounts to see if they’re torn, damaged or worn.
I’m an aircraft mechanic so I’m pretty comfortable with doing a lot of tedious and time consuming work so I plan on doing all the work myself unless it involves pulling an engine, I unfortunately don’t have that much time.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
