Test drove an odyssey today

I currently drive a pilot. I have a toddler and a 5 month old and thought it would be really nice to have a minivan mainly due to the sliding doors. Finally went and test drove the odyssey today and immediately hated it! Don't get me wrong- I loved the look of it and would love the convenience of sliding doors with young kids but HATED how low to the ground it felt. It made me realize how much I love my pilot. I will be keeping it until it dies lol

VCM disabled

Anyone use these ? Looking for a simple option while I save for a better one. Unless this one is good.

Ummm

I went for a service recall in my 2019 Odyssey. No issues there. I also had them complete multi point inspection since it was about that time. They recommend a brake fluid exchange because “we did find it to be contaminated with algae build up” only problem is I paid $273 in March to have the brake fluid exchange. What could this mean?

2023 Odyssey Starter

just purchased a used 2023 Honda odyssey 3 months ago and of course the starter is going out. starter failure verified by advanced auto store machine when I went test the battery. For context I’m a nurse, definitely not a mechanic. the parts alone are $1080. I consider myself a pretty smart person, with that said is this a difficult part to change with no experience? or should I just pay for an expert to change it? I am not rich by any means😂 and I’d like to save some money if I can. bonus if you can share instructions on changing the starter and relays.

PSA: shudder while accelerating potential fix

Sometimes have a shudder while accelerating around town? Get your alignment checked! It didn’t make it go completely away but it helped dramatically and almost doesn’t happen now. I know I have other suspension work that needs done but this is a good band aid for now. Get your alignments checked people! 2012 with 170k

VSA Warning Light; 2008 Odyssey

How much of an issue is this? What are the potential fixes?

EDIT: For clarification the warning light symbol and VSA symbol come on while driving and sometimes shut off on their own. Depressing the VSA button does nothing to shut off the warning light when it comes on.

Can I make this notification disappear without fixing the door?

2012 Touring

The driver side power sliding door does not work, and my mechanic has advised me that it will be $1800 to fix it. So we’re just using it in manual mode for a while. That’s fine. But I’d like it to not display this message; any idea how to get that to not show up every time we start the van?

Looking for opinions

I had fb throwing this in my face since I bought our new van and I was curious if anyone has ever bought this, and if so, do you like it? How well does it fit/suit the van? Lmk!

Diagnostic Trouble Code: P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1))

2016 Honda Odyssey Touring, 75k miles, VCMTuner II installed at 50k miles, NGK Ruthemium spark plugs installed at 58k miles.

A few days ago I noticed loss of engine power when accelerating. A day later, the check engine light turned on. The T-mobile sync up device shows a DTC: P0420.

Could it simply be an oxygen sensor failure? Or does the loss of power indicate the catalytic converter failure? If the converter is done for, I will go Honda OEM. Thoughts? Also, any auto shop recommendations in the Los Angeles area? Preferably closer to San Gabriel Valley.

Thank you, in advance.

Rattle near driver side foot rest

There's something rattling behind the plastic panel shown in the picture and it's driving me nuts.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Is there a safe way to open the panel?

Take it to the dealership?

Am I dumb?

Hi all, I come here looking for your Odyssey knowledge and also assume with this community that most have multiple children.

I have 2 kids, both in forward facing car seats. And we are expecting our third very shortly.

We currently have a 2018 CX-5 and it’s been a good car, no issues other than regular maintenance. It has just under 100,000KM on the clock.

With our family growing this car is just too small. I tried with to fit a 3rd car seat across the bench (yes, we even have 3 slim fit models) and I cannot get it to a position that is safe. And then not to mention all the baggage that a family of 5 comes with lol.

So we’ve been looking at trading it in for something bigger and I really think the minivan is the way to go and I like the odyssey.

Now the reason for my question is, would it be dumb to trade in our current car (paid off) on a 2017 odyssey that has 160,000km (60,000km more than our car), if it was costing us a bit of money? Looks like it would be about $5,000 difference. Other options I’ve seen, would be a bit newer (2018-2020) with 25,000km more. But would be about $10,000 more.

I don’t feel like it’s a terrible decisions but I’m looking to get a sanity check that it wouldn’t be a totally stupid decision.

Thanks in advance!

How to stop auto stop

Getting ready to tailgate/go camping but I want to leave the odyssey running so we can keep the tv/music/entertainment on. Is there a way to stop the car from shutting off after idling for 15-20 mins? Love everything else about this van but that’s a pretty annoying feature. TYIA!

Total Loss, now to start over in this market.

Hey everyone. I recently had my 2016 Honda Odyssey EX-L purchased in 2020 with 19,000 miles for $21k out the door. After 6yrs with a total of 108,000 miles, I was involved in an accident.
The car is deemed totaled. Insurance low balled me with $13k. I am trying to request more, as there are Odysseys out here with 125k + miles going for 14k or more.

Im trying to stick with a 2017 EX-L or Touring if a reasonable price is found.

I do not want to finance or lease, as my 2016 was purchase with cash.

What a slap in the face with these prices on used cars.

Any tips of trying to find another odyssey. So far I found a few, but man the prices for high miles is nerve recking.

I rather not finance and pay 1billion dollars. lol

2019 EX-L Options

Need to upgrade to a van due to new baby and not sure on older model reliability and pricing. Have a 2019 EX-L with 59.9k miles for $25.5k. Is this a good price currently and is this year still reliable? Clean carfax and maintenance records. Thanks

Myriad of lights

Hey yall. I was driving our 2018 Honda odyssey EXL down the highway with cruise on, when suddenly the cruise disengaged and these lights all came on. The cruise would not turn back on, but the vehicle did continue to drive the 5 minutes back home safely.

We have since turned it off/on again, and disconnected/cleaned the battery connections.

Potentially relevant information: the car has recently gotten new brakes, a transmission flush, and a new battery.

Any help figuring out whats wrong would be massively appreciated!

Timing belt replacement question

I've got a 2020 Odyssey with roughly 97,000 miles on it. It's currently having some warranty work done on it, including replacing the timing belt tensioner. The dealer offered to do the entire timing belt/water pump service for $1,100 while they're doing the tensioner since a lot of the labor is being covered by the extended warranty.

Would I be stupid to skip this?
