[GV80] Loved it, now I wish I never bought it.
First post got taken down, too long I guess. Here's a more concise summary for your reading pleasure.
TLDR: Don't buy a Genesis.
I’ve owned a 2023 GV80 since 2023 and I’m pretty much at the end of my rope with Genesis service.
The car had a front suspension popping noise basically from the time I bought it. I brought it in early on, it was documented again at 14k miles, and it was never fixed. Later another shop recommended around $7k worth of suspension work.
Then in June this year it threw P2138 and went to Norm Reeves Genesis in Irving. They told me not to drive it and that it needed to be towed. They eventually brought me a loaner, then had their own employee DRIVE my supposedly unsafe car back to the dealership (after they said don't drive it, it needs to be towed)
While they had it, Norm Reeves became Clay Cooley. That turned into a complete mess. They had my GV80 for about 7 weeks, communication basically died, and the eventual Clay Cooley RO starts about a month after they actually took possession of the car.
During those same 7 weeks the car had an open fuel-leak/fire-risk recall. Genesis Corporate was told the recall had been completed. I asked for paperwork because I didn’t trust what I was being told.
It wasn't done. 7 weeks in their possession and they didn't even do the recall.
Then Clay Cooley suddenly wanted their loaner back immediately and told me they could send a repo truck for it. Meanwhile they’d had MY car for seven weeks, hadn’t completed the recall, hadn’t fixed the suspension issue, and apparently couldn’t even keep the service records straight.
Finally got the GV80 back Aug. 10. Their repair order says they diagnosed P2138, replaced the accelerator pedal assembly, tested it and the problem was gone.
I made it about 10 miles.
Check engine light came back. Scanned it: P2138 again.
Genesis Corporate got involved, sent me to another dealer 50 miles away, and I had to deal with getting the car there and making a roughly 3-hour round trip to get another loaner.
They’ve offered literally no goodwill through any of this.
The crazy thing is I was actually willing to replace it with another GV80 if Genesis handled this right. I like the car. I just have zero confidence in this particular vehicle or in the way Genesis has handled the situation.
Curious if any other Genesis owners have had Corporate step in after a dealer completely botched a warranty situation like this.
