use of the term "cash grab"

Here is a subset of the Google definition of Cash Grab: "It typically implies that the creator prioritized making money over quality, ethics, or the actual value provided to the consumer." Providing a product that is of high quality, in demand, and valued by fans does not fit that definition. Rhino's Grateful Dead merchandise is usually pretty good. It's rapidly reviewed by the fan base, to the benefit of others. The product machine has been pumping out archival GD releases for over 30 years. We are not surprised by repackaging. Additionally, the bulk of the performances are also available for free. That is why I don't understand resentment towards remastering, repackaging, or sale of GD recordings. Purchasing is optional. It could be argued that the movie Alien Resurrection was a cash grabs. But GD releases are different. Fans that continue to buy these recordings are a different breed of consumer than the general public. I acknowledge that I'm triggered by the frequent claims of cash grabs in this sub, probably because I can't personally justify the resentment. The music we love is freely available. </rant>
