Constipation?
Anyone feel like they have a UTI but it ended up just being constipation?
Anyone feel like they have a UTI but it ended up just being constipation?
I should start by saying I’ve had my fair share of UTIs and I know what they feel like.
I’ve been in the hospital on and off for 2 months for postpartum preeclampsia. I had a catheter for 24 hours so they could give me a magnesium drip.
Been back to the hospital for high blood pressure and they’ve checked my urine and had some abnormal urinalysis markers. I wasn’t having symptoms so they didn’t treat.
Except when I ended up at the Cleveland clinic on vacation and they did a UA and decided to treat based off abnormal markers paired with 1 high temperature reading. They said my bacterium was klebsiella pneumonia. Ok never had that before, fun. They prescribed Cefuroxime. On the very last day of taking that antibiotic is when I first felt UTI symptoms- urgency and frequency. Went to local doctor and they sent me to the lab for a urinalysis and culture. UA came back perfect so they didn’t send out for culture. Ok great. it’s Saturday and UTI symptoms are bad so I call teledoc and they prescribe Macrobid. Day 3 and I’m still miserable. Pelvic pressure, urgency. Couldn’t sleep at all.
Is there any chance this is anything other than a UTI?
I’m 8 weeks postpartum after having postpartum preeclampsia and I’m currently taking enalapril. I don’t have terrible side effects from this medication like I did with nifedepine and labetalol, but I still don’t feel like myself and I can’t do much before I get winded and lightheaded. I felt better when I was pregnant. I fear I have pulmonary hypertension or something wrong with my lungs or heart. I’m so tired of this horrible nightmare and I just want to wake up and have everything be normal again.
I am 6.5 weeks postpartum. I developed Pre-E about 10 days after delivery. Did the mag drip and got on meds. Had horrible side effects from nifedipine so they switched me to labetalol and that was just as bad. I stopped breastfeeding so I went on valsartan, that wasn’t keeping it down so they made me take more labetalol. Ended up in the ER with BP of 200/134 and symptoms including chest pain, nausea, and lightheaded. After being there for a bit it started going down, and they gave me something else to help get it down. Followed up with my PCP and he added an extra dose of valsartan in the evening. 3 days later I’m on vacation and I get another dangerously high reading and went to the ER and they put me on mag, just on and off for a few hours, and transferred me to another hospital who had L&D where I stayed for 2 nights while they figured things out along with a cardiologist. Did EKG, chest XRay, bloodwork, etc. everything looks normal on paper. They switch me to a different medication- enalapril. Goes fine for 2 days and get another BP spike (right now). I took another dose and it’s going down so hopefully no ER tonight but I’m at my wits end. I haven’t been able to function in 6 weeks. Bless you if you’ve read all this.

For those who had side effects from labetalol, such as dizziness, lightheaded, or fogginess, did they eventually resolve after you got used to the medicine?
