Travel Question.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask. I am taking my daughter to Europe next summer. she’s 14 and we have joint custody. my ex and I went and applied for a passport at the post office, I paid fees and they said we should have it in 6 to 8 weeks. is this all I need to travel with her internationally? we have the same last name. I don’t need anything notarized from him do I? we are flying to Europe and taking a cruise when we get there.

Ex dumps daughter on girlfriend

This irks the crap out of me. we co parent our 14 year old daughter and have been divorced for over a year. he immediately got a girlfriend and moved her in. that’s fine because I haven’t loved him in years but it seems like on his weeks he constantly dumps our daughter on his girlfriend and just sits at home or does other stuff. I’d rather her just stay here with me. drives me nuts but I don’t feel I can say anything or do anything about it. we get along well mainly because I just keep my mouth shut and never speak my mind. anyone else dealing with this ?

Question on interviewing

I was let go on April 28 (position eliminated) but they said I could list them on my resume until July 31. I have applied for a position and have a phone interview tomorrow. I know they are going to ask if I am still with them and I don’t want to blatantly lie. should I say my position was recently eliminated but they are allowing me to list it on my resume until July 31 or would you just say you still work there ? they’ve also agreed to give a positive reference

Starting own firm.

For people who have started their own accounting business how did you get started? I am a CPA with 20 years experience industry and tax and audit in public. Ive stayed in Senior roles because I don’t want the stress. I am unemployed as of three weeks ago today. Been looking and things are blah. My friend has small business and I’m going to start helping her some next week. Wondering what anyone’s experience has been with starting a tax/bookkeping business out of their house ?

I applied for a fully remote tax prep position (which I don’t really want anyways ) and the guy emailed for an interview request, I confirmed and didnt hear back. I reached oit Thusday and he said teams invite was on the way. It’s in less than two hours and still crickets. what an asshat.

I posted just over a week ago I was let go after tax season. I had been at this firm since July of last year after just moving back to the area from out of state. I got no reason after working my ass off for 60 hour weeks the last 3 months. turns out they let go 3 other people in addition to me, including the only other cpa that wasn’t a partner. I was in the process of buying a house so I had to back out. went though a divorce last year and have been living with my dad. now I’ll be with my dad a bit longer. I’ve managed to save quite a bit of money so I decided to take my 14 year old on a vacation to Hawaii because why not? this is proof to not make work your life. I’ve looked around some and talked to some recruiters. just started looking last Friday. I think I want to target government so ive applied for a few things. I’ve worked in industry and public doing both tax and audit. hoping I can line up something fairly soon aft and my trip? for anyone currently unemployed how long did your search take ?

hi all, I’m a cpa with 20 years experience and just got fired this morning with no explanation. sigh. was under contract on a house to close May 8 and had to back out. I have tax in public, audit in public and industry experience and I’m honestly not sure what I want to do now. fortunately I’m not in a situation where I have to get a job that right away. any encouraging words are welcome.
