People who grew up in the 80s

What was it like, how many people smoked, was everyone nicer to each other back then? Idk honestly I wish I could go back to that time period and experience it. My mom did but she and I weren’t really close and she passed away a couple years ago so I never got to really ask her about it. But anyways what were politics like, the Cold War was like , I know the vehicles were built to last kinda (later 80s trucks I still see driving around) what were the fashion choices( are they like every movie now about the 80s?) also Music!!! I absolutely love music so please drop song suggestions down below. Rant over

2003 Sport Trac

So I’m in need of a timing chain on my truck it’s got 233k on it, the shop quoted me a reman engine of 9k?? But the chains themselves it’s about 4.5-5K depending on the shop. Should I bite the bullet and do just the chains or replace the whole engine?

So I have a 2003 Explorer ST that needs timing chains and a trans rebuild, would it be worth it to just replace the motor and trans? It’s got 232K on it, I’m the second owner of the truck. I’ve heard several people tell me that I should just upgrade to a full size truck or a ranger because they’re more common to find parts for, and I’ve roughly done the math for the engine and trans rebuild: new Engine = $9k
trans rebuild = 3K

Would it be worth it to even do all the work to it or should I bite the bullet and get another truck?
