Our Subreddit is Being Brigaded With Report Abuse by Another Subreddit

tl;dr - Made a post explaining timeline of changes by mods to a subreddit I used to moderate in my own subreddit for the sake of transparency and explicitly warned against brigading/harassing the other sub, and did not include names or usernames of problematic mods. Other sub's mods are launching repeated harassment and breach of confidentiality reports against our sub.

FULL STORY:

Hey all,

Looking for support. I previously moderated a partner subreddit to another one which I own. The partner subreddit has recently taken harder political slants without disclosing this to commentors for the changes.

I was getting DMs asking what was going on when I was unmodded (for challenging the change in norm) and when I subtly hinted at what was happening, I was given a warning. When I challenged the mod on it, I was then banned.

I made a post in my own subreddit explaining what had happened and how the other partner sub has essentially taken a completely different political slant and deliberately deleting/banning commentors pushing that norm. I felt the community deserved to know what was happening. I did not include personal names or usernames of the mods in question.

The details which I did share were more subtle and restrained than what you would see on a sub like like subreddit drama. The post also explicitly started with a warning to users not to brigade or harass the other subreddit.

The post was immediately flooded by their moderator team with report abuse, claiming I had shared personal information and confidential information. When the reports were dismissed, they reported the subreddit for harassment and we've received a warning.

I'm requesting Admin assistance on this. We have a small burgeoning subreddit which we're trying to resurrect during a really volatile time in the Iranian community (in Iran and the diaspora) and there are fewer and fewer spaces where we can discuss what's happening in our community openly.

My understanding is that discussing this isn't a breach of Reddit rules, as long as we don't brigade or tell people not to post there. The onslaught of reports at us and the sub is really concerning, and I'm asking for amin intervention here.

Marjane Satrapi Turned Down The Legion of Honour, France's Highest Award Due to French Hypocrisy Toward Iranian People

"I can't continue seeing the children of Iranian oligarchs come to spend their holidays in France, even become naturalised, while at the same time young dissidents have difficulty in obtaining a tourist visa to come to see what the country of the Enlightenment and human rights looks like. Supporting the women's revolution in Iran cannot be reduced to photos with victims or celebrities during commemorations of the death of Mahsa Amini. Iranians don't need communication, we need concrete actions."

Rest in Peace, Marjane jaan.

Buffing Out Poly Streaks On Maple Cookie

Hey y'all,

I've finished a maple cookie table. Unfortunately every time I sand and apply varnish (minwax satin oil poly) I end up with some streaks once it dries. I'm wondering if buffing can help with this? I've never buffed a poly finish before.

It's my first time working with a cookie - and holy smokes it's unforgiving with brush marks (even foam).

Help appreciated!

Republican President Ronal Reagan Made a Deal with Khomeini, Like Republican President Trump is Doing Now

We need to face the truth that even Republicans are terrible for Iran. The throughline is American Presidents, en masse, don't give a shit about our people.

BEFORE THE WAR: Iranian university students chanting "No monarchy, no dictatorship - democracy for all!", "Women, life freedom - Republic for Iran", "Death to the oppressors - be it a king or a supreme leader!"

Another poster decided to share very selective videos from the protests in December/January. This compilation includes a couple of "Javid Shah" chants, as well as multiple anti-Monarchy chants.

It's important to share more faithfully what our brothers and sisters are saying in Iran, outside of a curated personal bias.

Trump says peace deal with Iran ‘largely negotiated’ with strait of Hormuz to open

Trump says peace deal with Iran ‘largely negotiated’ with strait of Hormuz to open

Remarks by US president potentially mark conclusion of bombing campaign led by US and Israel

Donald Trump announced on Saturday that a peace deal with Iran “has been largely negotiated”, after calls with a Pakistani mediator, Gulf allies and Israel, potentially paving the way for an end to the war launched by the US and Israel in February.

Trump wrote on his social media platform that “final aspects and details” of a “Memorandum of Understanding” are still being discussed, and “will be announced shortly” but said the strait of Hormuz will be opened as part of the deal.

“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries,” Trump posted.

The announcement came after a Pakistani source told Reuters that Iran and Pakistan had submitted a revised proposal to the United States to end the war and reopen the strait of Hormuz.

A regional official with direct knowledge of the Pakistan-led mediation efforts told the Associated Press earlier on Saturday that the potential deal would include an official declaration of the war’s end, with two-month negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, the opening of the crucial shipping lane by Iran and an end to the US blockade of Iranian ports.

There had been hints before the announcement that indirect talks between the US and Iran had progressed in the past few days. Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state, said during a visit to India that “news” might arrive “later today”, even as Trump continued to threaten striking Iran.

In his post, Trump said that he had had phone discussions with many Middle Eastern leaders, including those of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain, as well as Pakistan’s army chief, field marshal Asim Munir, and Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “Separately, I had a call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, which, likewise, went very well,” Trump said.

Details of the exact negotiations remain sparse. Trump on Saturday said he’d met with American negotiators, including special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner, along with JD Vance, to discuss the latest round of proposals.

The lead-up to the announcement remained tense, with Trump continuing to threaten strikes. Trump had told CBS and Axios he would only sign a deal “where we get everything we want”, adding that if a deal was not reached, the US would begin striking Iran again.

Drop Site News reported late Friday night that the latest proposal submitted to mediators by Iran included the provisional reopening of the strait of Hormuz. However, Iran also requested the US end its blockade of Iranian ports, the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets and a plan to compensate Iran for damages suffered during the war. According to Drop Site’s source, the Iranian proposal included permanently ending the war before negotiating any deal on Tehran’s nuclear program. It is unclear how many of these points were included in the memorandum Trump referred to in his post.

Iran’s top negotiator said earlier in the day there would be no compromise over its national rights during a meeting with the Pakistani army chief in Tehran.

“Our intention was first to draft a memorandum of understanding, a kind of framework agreement composed of 14 clauses,” he said on state television.

First Time Using Epoxy to Seal Tabletop Cracks - Pour From Bottom or Top?

Hey everyone!

Bit of an amateur so I'd love a bit of guidance here!

I'm working with a cross cut maple cookie which I'm turning into a dining table (it's big).

The wood is fully dried. The side I'd like to use has two cracks protruding from the centre (one is about 6" in length, and the other is about 10" in length. The smaller one is less than 1/16" in width, and the longer one maybe mazes out at about 1/8"). There's also a dozen much smaller cracks (1-3" in length, and a maybe a sliver in width).

The backside has three cracks protruding from the middle. Two are the same as the other side but they're wider on the bottom side, and then there's a 3rd crack which connects tot the other two. Also, while the other side has a dozen of the tiny cracks, this side has maybe 30-50.

My plan is not to epoxy the entire surface. My plan was:

  1. Plane both sides (done)
  2. Lightly sand the cracks by hand and spray out the dust
  3. Use epoxy in the cracks
  4. Plane both sides again
  5. Sand the bottom with Random Orbital Sander (80 -> 120)
  6. Sand it the top 80 -> 120 -> 150 (with a light 220 pass)
  7. Oil stain the back side with 1 coat
  8. Oil stain the top with 2-3 coats
  9. One coat varnish on back
  10. 3 coats varnish on top (with light 220 and 320 sanding after coats 1 and 2)
  11. Use metal brackets to reinforce the three big cracks on the bottom
  12. Attach legs

So now I have two questions:

  1. I was going to pour the epoxy from the top side (the nicer side) but given that the bottom has a lot more cracks, now I'm doubting this plan
  2. Does the rest of my plan make sense to yall?

Thanks so much!

Top side bigger cracks

Top side smaller cracks (12-15 in total across the whole thing)

Bottom side big cracks

Bottom side smaller cracks (tons of them)
