Mariners Season Awards 2026

Another season has come and gone, and its time for us to close the book on the year. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for the awards and respond to the handful of "survey" questions. There were 179 responses this year, and only one was scrubbed entirely. You'll see quite a few of the questions have fewer responses as some folks chose not to answer questions or their joke responses have been omitted. And yes this is a repost because I broke my post when trying to edit it a bit. Below are the past years’ results if you're interested in looking back. We'll start with the "survey" responses, and then on to the awards!

I don't have too many big takeaways from this year's awards. Gilbert's SPOTY award makes his third, meaning he's won half of them.

Miller to the Bullpen?

Per Dan’s post-game presser, Miller went to the bullpen as an emergency reliever. If he were needed he could have been available since today was a scheduled side session. It was a one day only thing.

Mariners Postseason Strip Pricing 2026

Partial and full postseason strip pricing available to STH. Slight increase from last year based simply on what I had for last year and the same section this year.

How to replace Robby Ref?

We don’t have a good option to replace Refsnyder in the org. Next up is Connor Joe, who had a nice start, but has fallen off and isn’t MLB caliber either. If we don’t make a move, maybe Weston Wilson sticks around instead of Ref when Donovan returns, but there’s a reason he’s on his third team in 1.5 years. Brennan Davis has looked good in Tacoma, but he is currently hurt and hasn’t had a single rep in MLB. We are going to have to find a RHH by the deadline, maybe multiple. I’m interested in hearing some targets and rationale, and I’ll make my own proposal below.

I think we should target Luis Robert Jr. He has often been injured throughout his career and is currently on the injured list. He’s been up and down performance wise due to the injuries, but he still has all the talent to be a plus bat, glove, and runner. Perhaps most importantly, he has hit well at T-Mobile Park in his career and has hit lefties for a wRC+ of 120 or higher in all but his 2024 season (only 67, idk wtf happened there). We can afford to rest him once or twice a week and/or play him at DH occasionally to help keep him fresh. He is definitely better at facing lefties in his career, but he is not strictly a platoon guy given his baserunning and defensive capabilities too.

He didn’t cost the Mets much, and given that he has struggled and been hurt much of this year, he shouldn’t cost too much now either. He is owed $20M this year with a team option for $20M next year ($2M buyout). I’d offer Luke Raley to start. Much cheaper, gives them a good bat against righties, and they can either keep him to try and compete next year or sell him off before the deadline or in the offseason. Depending on how we feel about absorbing Robert’s contract, we can try to send Castillo to the Mets to help offset the payroll (they also need pitching). And then, of course, we’ll need to include some sort prospect package. Based on the prospects included in the package to the White Sox, I don’t think there’d be any discussion of including someone like Laz, Anderson, or Sloan. We could sell high on someone like Farmelo and that would probably do a lot of the heavy lifting in the deal or offer a couple prospects in the 8-20 range. Whether Castillo goes and/or how much salary we take on or offload will have a big impact on what prospects could get it done.
