Hey everyone!

I’m finally planning my first ever trip to the Isle of Man TT next year and honestly… I’m ridiculously excited about it.

I’ll be flying from Bulgaria, and since I’ve never been to the island before, I thought I’d ask the people who actually know what they’re doing instead of trusting random travel blogs written by someone who visited once in 2014 😄

The TT has been on my bucket list for years and I really want to do this properly, not arrive completely unprepared and realize too late that everything was supposed to be booked 11 months ago.

So I’m basically here begging the locals and experienced TT visitors for advice, warnings, survival tips, rookie mistakes to avoid, or literally anything you think first-timers should know.

Some things I’m trying to figure out:

• What’s the smartest way to get to the island from Europe/Bulgaria?
• Which UK airports are easiest to transfer through?
• Ferry vs flights - what do most people recommend?
• How insane does accommodation get during TT?
• How early do ferries/hotels/rental cars need to be booked?
• Is renting a car worth it or is public transport good enough?
• How well developed is the public transport system around the island during TT? Can you realistically move around easily without a car?
• Are taxis impossible during race days?
• Which areas are best to stay in for first-timers?
• What are the best viewing spots around the course?
• Any places that are overrated or tourist traps?
• How chaotic are road closures REALLY?
• What’s the weather usually like during TT? (I’ve heard “all 4 seasons in one day” 😅)

One thing I’d especially love help understanding is the full travel logistics.

Since I’ll be flying from Bulgaria, I’m still confused about what the “normal” route is for TT visitors:
Fly to Manchester/Liverpool → ferry?
Direct flight to the island?
Stay overnight before the ferry?
How painful is the whole process during TT week?

Also:

• are ferries hard to book?
• does luggage become a nightmare?
• do rental cars disappear instantly?
• how early should I realistically organize everything?

Basically imagine you’re explaining TT week to an excited idiot from Bulgaria trying not to accidentally ruin his dream trip 😂

Would massively appreciate any advice, hidden tips, local knowledge, food/pub recommendations, transport hacks, or general “DON’T DO THIS” warnings.

Thanks in advance - hopefully next year I’ll finally get to experience the madness in person instead of watching from home every year.
