Update to my recent post with new, older kitty.

One person asked for an update so I thought I'd give everyone a short one. She's been here about a week.

I think she's doing very well! It took a few days for her to be able to poop, but the constipation appears to be gone with pumpkin and salmon hairball treatment. Her fleas are taken care of with Revolution as well as Capstar. The appointment for her to get fixed has been moved to the 13th because the vet is concerned due to how long she was outside that you might be pregnant. So they want to get her in sooner rather than later. (I am not convinced of that but I am not a vet.)

She has some sort of an ear problem and she's a little itchy and slightly vocal about it when she is scratching her ears. I have used over-the-counter ear drops to help her feel better and before her spay they will look at her ears. We have already scheduled a follow up appointment for her on the 27th when she's hopefully mostly healed up from being spayed to do a really detailed physical and see what else she needs help with.

After discussions with family members and friends the pick for her name is going to be Dorothy with a nickname of Dot. She is still sleeping in the cage at night, but she is out all day. My cats have settled in and aren't bothered by her, but she's still a little nervous with them. So I don't want to take her safe space away until I'm sure that she doesn't need it any longer. Her current weight is 6 lb 10 oz so she's not too tiny.

We're just working on getting more food in and helping get her comfortable enough for her surgery in a week. I think she is also getting vaccinations the day she gets spayed so these are her first vaccinations that we know of as well. I think she's doing really well and the fact that my cats have accepted her so quickly is the miracle I had hoped for!

Short story short, but the CDS has brought me this little lady. She is skittish and shy, but hoping she will warm up to us!

I already have six cats so I wasn't in the market to get any more. However this little lady situation broke my heart so I offered to take her in. She is 6 years old and is unfixed and has not seen a vet from what I can tell ever in her life. She is quite small for her age - maybe about 7 lbs? (I had a cat for 15 years who was about 6 lbs for most of her life due to neglect and poor growth in her young years. I have no idea if that is what this lady is struggling with or not.) Giving her lots of food and love and hoping she will want to integrate with us and become part of our big family!

Mina sharing a laugh with her friend Roccu. It's both consensual and not consensual at the same time.

They will snooze next to each other pretty often but they usually also start with the slightly defensive flooded eye posture until they figure out where each one is going to settle. Then they can get a few good hours in with heads touching. They are both senior cats so they've settled into a good rhythm with each other. ❤️

When I settled down to binge the Jaws movies on TV Roccu came and settled on my lap. I don't know where the brain cell went, but she's been staring into space for a while. I think she's asleep even with the open eyes.

I end up going to the bathroom and turning the heating pad back on in the bed. Then I put more food in the bowl. When I get back in bed he'll hop up after he's finished eating and take over the hot pad again. It's one of his favorite things to do.

I am lucky enough to have two Merlin nests within several hundred feet of my home. They are loud but I love listening to them!
