Need some honest mom feedback 😭 [ON]

I opened a ready-to-feed formula to pour 30 mL into another bottle for my 6-day-old baby, but he ended up not drinking it. The original bottle has now been sitting in my room at around 72°F for about 3 hours.

And if my baby keep sleeping it could stay until the morning...It hurts throwing away almost a full bottle 😭

Have any of you ever been in this situation and still used it without issues? Or would you absolutely toss it?

Making my baby turn his head 😭 [ON]

I’ve noticed my baby almost always sleeps with his head turned to the same side. When I place him in the bassinet with his head facing the opposite way, a few minutes later he’s turned it back again 😅

Is this normal for newborns? Did anyone else’s baby have a preferred side, and is there anything I should be doing to encourage him to turn both ways?

Breastfeeding, pumping and blisters [ON]

Breastfeeding mamas 😭

How are some of you pumping 3+ times a day, almost every day, and your nipples are not on fire?! Between my baby latching and pumping, I feel like I’m going crazy over here.

I already have a blood blister on one breast, and I don’t know how to get rid of it or if it’s still okay to nurse my baby on that side. 😭

Postpartum fluids… question [ON]

I’m a little under 48 hours postpartum, and something interesting has happened to me at least 4 times so far. When I get up and walk to the bathroom, as soon as I’m almost there, I suddenly start peeing… like completely without being able to control it.

The reason I say “peeing” is because I don’t feel like I have incontinence in other occasions going within this time.

Has anyone experienced this postpartum? Is it actually pee, or could it be something else?

Experiences with the Foley balloon? [ON]

Yesterday afternoon I had a Foley balloon placed to start my induction process. The first couple of hours were definitely intense; I had pretty painful cramps. I’m not someone who usually gets period cramps, so when the nurse explained that “period-like cramps” are normal with the balloon and don’t necessarily mean active labor, I honestly started wondering what real contractions are going to feel like 😅

After about 2–3 hours, the cramps gradually eased up… and then completely stopped. It’s now been almost 20 hours, the balloon still hasn’t fallen out, and I’m not feeling any pain at all. I’m currently waiting for the hospital to call me back to continue the induction with oxytocin and, I’m assuming, remove the balloon.

I’m still having Braxton Hicks almost every 30 min (my belly feels hard almost all the time), but no actual pain.

For those who’ve been through this, does this sound normal? Does not feeling pain mean anything? I was only 1 cm dilated when the balloon was placed yesterday, so I honestly have no idea where things might be at now.

I’d love to hear your experiences.

LToday is my due date (May 6th), so I’m officially 40 weeks. I’m a FTM, and at my last appointment I was 1 cm dilated. I have my next appointment tomorrow, and I’m unsure if I should ask my doctor about being induced this week.

My OB previously told me that around 40 weeks induction is an option, or I can choose to wait until 41 weeks. Her only firm limit is not going past 42 weeks, and she usually induces by 41+3 at the latest.

I know my baby is full term and healthy, but part of me feels scared about waiting longer and possible risks as pregnancy goes on. At the same time, another part of me doesn’t want to force anything if my body and baby just need a little more time. This pregnancy has gone so smoothly, and maybe I just need to trust the process… but I’m struggling with the decision.

Have any of you felt this way? What did you decide, and looking back, what would you do? I’d really appreciate your experiences and advice.

FTM here. Due May 6th, currently 39+2, and still pregnant 🤍

For those who were induced, was it because of a medical reason, or was it something your OB offered as an option? What induction method did you choose/use?

A little about my situation: I had a follow-up appointment today and told my OB I was open to an induction, but ideally after 40 weeks (next Wednesday). Out of the options she explained, I chose the balloon method. Somehow, either I didn’t explain myself clearly or I misunderstood, because I was scheduled for this Monday (May 4th). After leaving the office, I ended up going back to cancel because I felt stressed, scared, and honestly overwhelmed.

I haven’t really had time to research induction or fully understand what to expect, and in my mind I was hoping to wait until after my due date. I know Monday is only two days before my due date, so maybe I’m overthinking it… but part of me feels like I’d like to give my body a few more days and see if labor starts naturally before making that decision.

I’d really love to hear your induction stories: why you were induced, what method was used, and how everything turned out 🤍

I work in Ontario. My partner is not planning to take parental leave and untimely I reported at my workplace that I'll be off 57 weeks (13 month).

I would like to take my 15 weeks Mat leave + 35 of the standard parental leave and 7 weeks unpaid. Is just that I don't know if this decision conflicts with my workplace or service Canada /CRA in anyway cause I'm only will recieved benefits for a total of 50 weeks and not 57 weeks although I reported it want to be off 57 weeks.

Can I recieved payment benefit only for 50 week and still have off the rest of the weeks before going back to my workplace with no income during those 7 remaining weeks?
