[CHAT] I've got this beautiful fabric and I'm not sure what to stitch on it! Any ideas?

Not going to lie, I bought it because my mucky mind thought it looked like something else, so I am really open to ANY suggestions

[FO] I saw some very cute metal work snails in a garden this morning, and decided to have a go in cross stitch

First I decided to make the smallest snail I could, so I could use as a black work piece. I'm happy with this, but like most black work, would work better as 1 strand. Then I wanted to make one that would fit in a 10x10 box. On the second attempt, I was happy with this. I was going to french knot the eyes and the tentacles, but think it actually works well without! I hope you enjoy this and want you to know that I was supposed to be working whilst I did these :-)

[WIP] I'm working on a pattern for my eldest. I have been instructed to tweak it it gives more "potato" than "potato second time around"

I think some back stitch will help, and I'll smooth out the weird right angle on the right

Dahon - broken stem mechanism

Hi, I've had a Dahon fold up for about 8 years. The stem has always been a bit wobbly, but it went, had a repair, has gone again.

I'm a complete bike numpty (I mean obviously, I was happy trundling about with a stem that wobbled a bit). A local bike kitchen said they would repair for me if I can find the parts. The bit that has gone is where I am supposed to lock the stem into place, it won't lock in. It's a mariner D8. I wanted to ask people here:

Is this a known problem with Dahon and is it worth fixing?

How do you normally go about finding parts?

Thank you

I had some cut off strips from the last item that I framed and one was the right length for a bracelet so I stitched out the shape from my odds and sods thread tin, and added some complementary seed beads. I stabilised with some self-adhesive felt (which also makes it comfortable to wear). The finish could be better, but as an idea, I think it works!

I'll go first:

Jane Auston: Link to museums, libraries and schools English Lit programs. Walking tours, Victorian school day experience (I've done this), writing competitions

Amelia Dyer - riverside spaces, true crime tours, exhibitions on the social conditions that led to baby farming and baby murder

Oscar Wilde - I mean this one is obvious

Kate Winslet - link to college film courses,

Trooper Potts - Forbury gardens, cadets, uniformed groups like scouts and guides

There are more, but I really need to get some work done

It's for an old boss of mine who I am still in touch with... this is what we would say to each other on completion of an especially satisfying or splendid task. He will like it when I tell him the thread in the text is known as the devils pubes and he will also love it when I sew a gift bags for it out of boobies fabric. (Pic of the fabric here if you are interested: 100% Cotton Fabric Digital Little Johnny Range Boobies Breasts)

The variegated thread will drive him nuts... because old habits die hard :-)
