22 years riding and it finally happened
I write this as I wait for a tow.
I was hit from behind by a clueless old lady.
Thankfully it was low speeds. I was not ATG-ing (everything except a jacket) and have some road rash up both arms. Regretfully, my girl was on the back, dressed the same, and she got worse road rash on her arms/shoulder.
It could have been much worse because she kept driving and nearly ran us over as we tumbled.
That's all. I admit, it happens to even the most aware riders and I should have been wearing a jacket. We walked away fine, but wouldn't have even known if I had a jacket on.
The bike looks to have only sustained superficial injuries too. I was going to ride home but it's leaking oil out of the air intake. Not sure if that's normal for laying on its side for a bit or not
Update: tow initially gave me an estimate of 30-60 minutes. After 70, I called. They gave me a run around. I called again 15 later and was told the first tow truck broke down and they were sending another, but it was going to be another 45 minutes and wanted to charge me $70 more - mind you, I already paid them to get them out there. They tried to extort me! Told me it would be even more money to find someone else at this time on a Sunday. I flipped out on the guy, got a refund, and rode home. In the downtime, I checked the engine codes, and the oil settled, so I felt good to go. Thankfully the light never came back. My buddy came and picked up my girl, who was just way too mentally shaken up to get back on a bike.
