How to change career without a new degree?
Looking for some career
I'm 32 and in my last year of Open Uni however will not be getting great grades to be honest, distance learning does not suit me and I have a lot of grips with the OU tbh. My degree is in Natural sciences but I'm finding its not helping me get a job at all. I either need 5+ years experience, a masters, or to move house which considering we've just bough and my partner is stable in his job, is not really feasible.
I currently am a receptionist at a garage but am classed as "self employed" - I am actually pretty sure its hidden employment as I go to and from the same. I get £500 a week, do 8:30-5pm or some days 4:30pm if we finish early and am expected to work til lunch as I'm the only one and customers still want to call to book in, or want to pick up their cars. So i also get less than minimum wage. This job isnt great but ir was there for when i had lost my job and couldnt get one for a year - the job market out there is HARD.
I need a job change. So just want some advice on whats out there. I can't get funding for another degree and can't afford to fund one myself. After mortgage and bills I dont have a lot of spare money to get much else in the way of qualifications either. But I need something thats secure and pays better than this. Can move up if I want to. And ideally NOT customer facing because most of my previous jobs have all been and I've had enough. Working from home would be the dream but thats just preference.
