About 10 years ago my dad divorced my mom, and he remarried my stepmom about 5 years ago. My stepmom doesn’t like me and has a history of being physically and verbally abusive toward me. My father doesn’t stop her from hurting the people in his family.
About 4 years ago my father and stepmom had a son together, my half-brother. What do I owe my father? How do I manage this relationship? What do I owe my half-brother?
Some important context: my stepmom and my father did not speak the same language when they met, and they married within roughly 30 days before I had even met her. This has caused a language barrier between my stepmom and me since I also did not speak the same language as her initially.
