Just finished rewatching that arc in the anime and wow. I cried multiple times. Mashima gets so much flack but I think he does a great job of making the character connections feel genuine. And the small details like Ezra saying as a child that she cried half her tears, then being able to use both eyes after healing from her trauma at the end of the arc are so good.
