Do you like playing for late game in Team Matches?
So I started playing aoe2 seriously a month ago, first computer, then 1v1 and now 4v4 team quickmatches.
What I noticed right away is that there are a lot of players who just want to wall up, boom, build lots of castles and go to imp, which inevitably ends in a contest who can manage the chaos of 200 pop best and pump out the right kind of units out of 20-30 military buildings.
Now I don't like super early rushes either because I'm still learning my build orders and will panic, that's why I like Arena and Hideout because it affords you some protection. Castle age is by far my favorite age because the still limited troops and resources allow you to make interesting tactical plays. Like I tried to do castle drops while faking a raid on the other side.
But with Black Forrest, which seems really popular at the moment, if the majority just wants to turtle, there's really no way to do anything else.
