Still battling a childlike look, not trying to be realistic, but I don’t want it to look so amateur. Would love some input. What can I add or do from here?

This is what I worked on last night. I started teaching myself to paint in April of this year. Although I have a long long long way to go I’m finally seeing some improvements. My style is definitely whimsical and fun. Glad I found a group where I can see other artists sharing similar things. I was starting to feel a little silly posting stuff. Wait did I just call myself an artist? I’m not sure that’s accurate but I guess my journey is just starting. 😏💜

This isn’t even close to what I was originally thinking. Not happy but sharing it anyway. Just can’t seem to get a flower meadow right it. Wanted to do a night medow. I would love input if anyone is willing. Thanks!

Teaching myself to paint and this was the first time I did a full sketch and under Painting. I do see the difference but I know I have a long way to go. What would you do differently or from here? Do I continue and try and add more details? If so, what do I even do?

Trying to teach myself to paint the last few months. This was my first go with acrylic paint. Looking for some tips on how to make the meadow less childlike. I loved the background, but I feel like I ruined it. 😏

Tried another bouquet and although I didn’t slow down as much as I should, I do see improvements. If I can only get my brain to realize a painting can take a long time and doesn’t need to be completed in a few hours. A little closer every day lol.

Still practicing and trying to find local lessons but not having any luck. I was hoping for some hands-on teaching. What’s the most important thing you’ve learned?

Practicing detail and shading. Still having a hard time. But at least enjoying the process.

This time I actually laid out everything in advance and did a little sketch on the canvas first. Definitely helpful and something I should’ve been doing from the start. Need to work on shading and realism, but small improvements are coming through. Would love to get advice if you have any. 💜

Need a little help please. What brush do you use for fuzz/fur? Second photo is the inspiration.
