Does it matter if I bought a clone even though to play .gba games?

So I bought a device from Aliexpress and I may have bought a clone, but I only plan to play .gba pokemon hack roms. Should I buy a brand new SD (as Gemini recommended) and make a backup just in case the internal SD fails?
