Cat screaming for food at 3am
Getting kind of desperate for tools to help with this. I have a 9 year old cat, a 3 year old cat, and a 8mo baby. The cats are on a prescription wet food for urinary tract support and are fed in the morning and evening. They also have prescription dry food out all day and night long, so they are never without food. My 9 year old cat for the last year and a half or so has been waking us up between 3am-5am with relentless screaming, knocking things off our bedside tables, pawing at our hair and face, and scratching at the doors, all until we feed him. We do our best to ignore him but it goes on for hours and ends up in broken phones and baby monitors that get pushed off the table. We try to pet him and give him a space to settle with us, this only works temporarily. We try to shut him out of the room, he scratches at the doors. We relent to feeding him but it seems like an unending cycle. After being up with the baby I’m only getting 45 minutes or so of sleep before this starts. Hard to attribute it to the baby when it’s been going on since before the baby and pregnancy. He is a fairly low energy cat and doesn’t love to play, so this hasn’t been helpful to do before bedtime, for instance. Getting pretty desperate and don’t want to spend $200 each on auto wet food feeders.
