I’m working on my 2017 Kia forte 2.0 L with 114,000 miles. I was going down a p0017 code rabbit hole and narrowed it down to certainly being my timing chain (checked sensors and vvt and all that). I took the valve cover off to check the chain itself and it seemed to me that it definitely had too much slack. After wiggling it a bit and then putting the cover back the p0017 has been gone. It’s been about a week. I’m tempted to change the all the timing parts out anyway because I’m driving cross country in a few weeks, but I’m curious what others think.

Edit. Thanks for all the info! Sounds like I need to replace all the timing components.
