Satchel is getting a tuxedo

Dropped my 53 Satchel with SGC today at the national. I know he’s in good hands but was still never racking handing it over.

SGC or PSA?

Hey everyone

I’ve got a few vintage cards I’m considering having graded. I’m guessing nothing above a 3-5 but I’m no expert. It seems like this community is partial to SGC. I would agree they look great with the black border and the lower cost per card assuming it doesn’t grade high. Maybe SGC is just better at grading vintage? But others argue the PSA grade has more value if I decide to sell them someday. I’m torn on which to choose.
Thanks in advance

Ron Santo autograph

Hey everyone. I started following along a few months ago. I’ve learned a lot since joining. I collected cards as a kid during what I now know is the junk wax era. But had a lot of fun collecting and trading. Going to local shops and shows.
My small collection has been sitting in my parent’s attic for decades. Recently I brought it home. I forgot about my Ron Santo autographed card. One of my few older cards.
Growing up I used to go to a restaurant with my parents that Ron would eat at often. Maddy’s wayside in Glenview. Great restaurant unfortunately fell victim to a fire. I would bring this card with me hoping to get it autographed.
Then one night he was there and I had the card with me. I waited for him to finish dinner and with some coaxing from my parents asked for his autograph. At first he laughed and said it’s going to devalue the card kid. How about I sign a napkin instead? But he relented and signed the card. Makes me laugh thinking back to it. I thought it would be fun to share here. I plan to have it authenticated.
