I recently came into 3 Kitchen aid mixers. I’m undecided which one to keep. If I had more space I would keep them all but I can’t. I have:
My own KA stand mixer model KSM95ER0 made in October 2012.
My old KA model KSM90. I gave this to my daughter when we moved and she has now given it back. It was made in November 2003.
My MILs model K45SS. It’s a Hobart machine, built in January 1988.
My machine was in Mexico for 11 years and has some tarnish on the metal bits on the outside of the mixer head. I’m assuming the gears are plastic so they won’t be rusted but then they won’t last as long as metal gears. We lived at the beach and the air was very salt laden and humid. We have been back in Canada for 3 years so it isn’t subjected to the same harsh climate anymore. Not that it matters but this machine is red and I like how it looks. The others are white, and that’s fine but don’t look as nice as the red.
My daughter’s machine should have been made before they started using plastic gears.
My MILs machine would have more solid construction I think but I have been testing them all and this machine has a bit of a jump and clunk sound like it’s out of alignment. It does not walk off the counter.
We have a meat grinder attachment and the ice cream maker attachment for our mixer. My MILs has a meat grinder attachment and a rotor slicer/shredder attachment. I think they are compatible with all machines, please correct me if I’m wrong.
I probably will take them all to a local KA repair shop to get them serviced and hope to get more information from them but if they’re all good, which would you keep?
