Stand Mixer: Which bread hook should I pick?

Stand Mixer: Which bread hook should I pick?

I've got the choice between the two bread hooks. I'm wondering if one is better than the other. One is from a k45 from the 1970s. The other is from a 2005 model.

KSMC7QFB and KA7QCDH Compatible with KSM70?

I’m looking for stainless steel tools for my kitchen aid but I’m not willing to trust the sketchy Amazon options. my coated attachments are already chipping from light use and the dishwasher. so I want something truly dishwasher safe. I don’t want to pay for the expensive 200-180CAD 3 attachment set when I only need the dough hook and paddle.

are the commercial stainless steels (KSMC7QFB and  KA7QCDH) compatible with the KSM70 models like mine? the store told me no but google search (powered by AI so prone to hallucinations) tells me yes.

Used KSM90 "Ultra Power" Tripping GFCI

Bought a used 300W KSM90. It seems to run just fine but while running (about 5-10 minutes) it tripped a GFCI outlet twice. I see that is a common enough occurrence that it was easy to find other instances of it happening.

Walk me through this?

Alternate Bowls?

Hi again. With many thanks to the advice last week, especially from u/RIMixerGuy, I successfully exchanged my KA 8qt commercial unit. New one is great!

Question: can I use the bowl from my old KA Professional 600 with this new Commercial unit? It seems to fit, but I don't want to screw something up!

Thanks!

K5A struggles with bread dough

Need your opinions, bought a K5A a few months back as a project. Already did a digrease, clean, regrease, and changed the worm gear complete assembly.

But still struggles a lot with bread dough at 65% hydration

Need ideas of what to do next, or this is the max torque of the mixer

Regards

KitchenAid refurbished order cancelled but no refund?

Has anyone had this happen with a refurbished KitchenAid order? 😭
I ordered a refurbished mixer on August 4 for around $245 using my debit card. It was taking forever to ship, so I ended up cancelling it. On August 13, I got an email confirming that the order was cancelled.
The weird part is I still haven't gotten my $245 back. I checked my bank account and searched through my transactions, but I can't even find the original KitchenAid charge anymore or any refund. I'm still short the money though.
I'm going to contact KitchenAid again, but has anyone had this happen with a refurbished order? How long did it take for your money to come back?

Loose logo metal band. Is it normal?

I just had my KSM125 delivered. I notice the metal band (where the logo is printed) is loose. There is visible gap which I can press down. Is this normal?

At speed 1 I feel the motor sound is a bit loud and not consistent, not as smooth as on higher speed. Is this also normal?

I'm a bit cautious as this is my 2nd unit. The 1st unit ordered few days back from an official reseller was faulty out of the box, returned it and I ordered from official store so I want to ensure everything is alright:)

Edit: I tried tightening the 2 screws at the back. One side is tight, the other side (where the band feels loose) keeps rotating as if the tread is loose.

I found this gap too, is it normal? https://imgur.com/a/bk72Jub

Light bowl mixer height

Hi! Thinking of switching to a lift bowl mixer but I have a small kitchen with low cabinets over my counters. Does anybody know of the 5.5qt mixer is exactly 16.5” or a touch under? My cabinets are sitting at about the same height so not sure if it will just barely clear or if it will hit. I currently have the 4.5qt deluxe tilt head and the top of the head just barely touches and won’t open all the way. I’m guessing that means the bowl lift won’t fit under there but I can’t find measurements for the tilt head online and it’s hard to get an accurate measurement in person that’s precise enough. I’m really starting to make a lot of doughs and the tilt head is new and already struggling so I think the lift will be best but obviously not if I don’t have the space for it lol

Thanks in advance!

Need advice on purchasing a stand mixer as a gift

Hi there! I recently discovered that refurbished Kitchenaid stand mixers are decently priced and I've been considering getting one for my wife's birthday. However its 10 days away! She has a tilt head (classic I think) that is about 15 years old and showing its age a bit. She complains about it and says she wants a better mixer. She doesn't really do a ton of baking. Maybe a couple times a month, but during Christmas it definitely gets more use.

I want to get her dream mixer, but can't really afford a new one. So refurb it is. However, I also wanted to try to get a color she would, but availability is limited. Currently looking at the Agave colored 5.5 Bowl-Lift. It should arrive in time. My question is, is this enough of an upgrade that she will be satisfied with it?

And does anyone have any recommendations on mixer attachments that would be dishwasher safe? The paddles, not accessories that attach to the front i mean. We also have a small kitchen, so I'm also thinking going bigger would take up too much space. Thanks in advance!

Wife's Artisan About to Give Up the Ghost

My wife's mixer is looking like its on its last legs. We have no idea what's going on but it is getting worse and looking low-key dangerous to operate.

Any input/ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have a great day.

Recommendation for BIFL-like stand mixer under $300

Looking for BIFL-like stand mixer (used or new) for under $300, ideally self-serviceable with replaceable parts. Otherwise, a stand mixer at really great value. It's intended for 1-2 people but I do meal prep. I believe a KitchenAid can handle anything except bread (at least tough bread dough, though to be honest I probably won't be making any bread) so it should be avoided? It'd be for cookies and cheesecake for now, not sure if it's suitable for turning pork shoulder to ground pork with an attachment.

Brief search and it seems suggests DC motor and lift bowl are signs of a good one but that new KitchenAids are worse than ever? Not sure how to shop for a used one in Facebook Marketplace (examples of models and prices to expect for a used one?). This $200 one from Costco seems attractive even if it isn't BIFL-like.

Any tips, recommendations, and other considerations are much appreciated.

Cardamom vs. Pistachio

Hi everyone! I am looking to buy a ceramic cookware set from Kitchenaid, but saw that the colors options seem to be Porcelain, Cardamom, or Agave. I already have a substantial amount of kitchenware from Kitchenaid in the Pistachio color (which I love). Does anyone know if Cardamom and Pistachio are exact matches? I am worried that if the two greens are slightly off, I should get the more neutral Porcelain color instead… Please let me know if anyone has had the opportunity to compare these colors!

Is this older KitchenAid Pro 450 worth fixing up?

Hey! We have this older KitchenAid Pro 450 stand mixer and were thinking about cleaning it up and getting it back into use.

Does anyone know how easy it is to find bowls, attachments, and other accessories that fit these? Are newer KitchenAid accessories compatible, or would we need to track down older parts?

Just wondering if it’s worth putting a little time and money into. Thanks!
