Company changed the job

I joined a company and after only two weeks they said the company changed hands and I wouldn’t be in the original role. The new company is keeping me but doesn’t really have a job for me or know what I will be doing. I cant help but be angry they hired me with these changes coming. Right now I am doing various projects as they come up for the transition but no one has any idea what my new job will be. The new folks say, hey, we weren’t aware of what the original company was doing. What should I do to not end up in some dead end role at this new company?

The company is basically around a $1 trillion dollar company. Now they are sitting on almost $400b in short term treasuries and cash. The equity portfolio is nearly $300b. So, combined that represents 70% of the market cap. And yet, they spend 98% of the time talking about the operating companies. Does anyone else find this odd?
