Lets talk 3D Printing, what have you printed that's made your life easier in this industry or photography in general?

I got my first 3D printer about a year ago. Haven't used it much other than to print a few gag stuff for the kids and a few little household items. However I have used it to make my RE photographer life a little easier.

A few things I've printed:

  • Small wedge for keeping doors open/closed on shoots (if it gets lost or I can't be bothered retrieving it, I can just leave it and print another. I keep 2-3 in the car now)
  • Custom cover / hotshoe mount for my action cam. I can mount it to my camera and record short clips or POV videos, for socials. It eliminates the usual action cam mounts so it's much more compact.
  • Custom size boxes for small accessories / batteries
  • Clips / cable holders etc

What have you printed?

Laptop Replacement Parts

Anyone here work at some laptop repair shop?
I'm looking for an Asus laptop LCD screen. I'm comfortable doing my own repairs, just need the part and I'm having trouble sourcing it online.

I'm after an Asus Vivobook 15.6 LCD. NV156FHM-N4S, 30 pin, with brackets preferably but I can transfer the old ones on to the new one if need be.

I used to work in the industry many years ago, so I know it's not easy for the general public to source parts. I'm hoping someone here might work at a business that orders parts an can get one for me.

Cheers

Need some advice please. I know my gimbal technique needs work, but what exactly?

This is a short reel I did recently. I'm normally a photographer, but trying to brush up on my video skills also.

My footage is quite shaky, and I'm trying to work out what I need to work on to make it more stable. I'm currently using a DJI Ronin S in mostly pan only mode, and trying to stabilize in Resolve but sometimes it just makes it worse.

Any advice on what I need to work on to get my footage looking a bit smoother?

Cheers

Road Trip to Maldon - 30th May 2026

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about going on a short photo road trip in a couple of weeks.

The idea is to head to Maldon and walk around town. There is plenty of historical architecture there to photograph. Old churches, pubs, shop fronts etc.

My particular goal for this trip is to focus on shop fronts, textures, colours, and architectural features of buildings etc.

Would anyone be interested in joining?

If other people come along, we may stop for a lunch break at one of the cafes. Otherwise If I'm by myself I don't normally stop for lunch. I might just pack a sandwich or some snack.

I may also decide to visit another nearby town.

Date wise, I'm thinking Saturday 30th of May. I'm aiming to be there at about 9:30am.

For me it's approximately a 2 hr drive from the South East. If you're out this side of town I'm happy to meet up beforehand and cruise up together or we can arrange a central location for a meet up.
