Seymour Duncan Phat Cat Cover Removal

I am wanting to either replace the covers on a set of Phat Cats or get them powder coated. Is the process to remove the cover the same as any humbucker? I’ve found differing opinions on the process. Didn’t know if anyone here knew the answer.

I’ve been working solo on a classic-style point-and-click adventure game for a while now, very much in the spirit of early ’90s puzzle-driven games. A big part of the experience (at least in my head) is the characters, their personalities, weird and funny dialogue, and how they come across throughout the game.

Lately I’ve been thinking about voice acting, and realistically, as a solo developer, that’s a tough thing to pull off at a high level. Not just financially, but also in terms of directing performances, coordinating actors, revisions, etc.

One option I’ve been exploring is using something like ElevenLabs—not to generate voices, but to actually perform the lines myself and use it like a voice transformation tool. The idea would be I act out every line to get the timing, tone, and intent right. Then use ElevenLabs voice changer to shift my voice into different characters.

In my head, that feels closer to using software as a tool (like editing, animation, or sound design), rather than replacing the creative process entirely. But I also know there’s a pretty strong (and often justified) pushback against any AI in games right now, especially when it comes to things that feel mass-generated or low-effort. So I’ve been trying to figure out where that line actually is.

Is it about how the tool is used? Is it about whether it replaces human input vs enhances it? Or is it more about the end result and whether it feels phoned in over actually worked on? I’m curious how others here think about this. Especially other solo devs who have to wear a lot of hats. Where do you personally draw the line between something being a helpful tool vs something that crosses into “AI slop”?
