The fun, for me, in Victoria 3 is the emergent storytelling. For better or worse you can create your own narratives outside the core economic game engine. I attracted migrants, as you do, in the new world, and some Greeks made the trek across the Atlantic.

Someone from the Greek diaspora ended up an executive at one of the mining companies powering Colombia industrial revolution and, because of the expanding company assets, had enough prominence to become leader of the industrialists and won the presidency.
