Does the Beyerdynamic TYGR 300R need an amp?

Hey everyone, I recently got the TYGR 300R and I'm using it mainly for single player games (stuff like Resident Evil, Outer Wilds, Subnautica, Dark Souls, Cyberpunk etc).

I have a few questions

  1. Does the TYGR 300R actually need a dedicated amp to sound its best, or is it fine straight out of a motherboard or USB dongle? I'm currently using a JCALLY JM6 Pro dongle and also have an ASUS TUF Gaming B650-E WiFi motherboard in my pc.

  2. Is EQ worth doing on this headphone? I've seen the Oratory1990 and Resolve EQ profiles for it. Does it make a noticeable difference for gaming or does it mess with the natural soundstage?, I also notice my headphones becoming much quieter when i use the eq preset

  3. If an amp/DAC is recommended, what's a good budget option? I've been looking at the FiiO KA11 as a dongle upgrade. Would something like that be enough or should I go for a desktop DAC/amp?

Does the Tyger300r need a dac/amp from your experiences?

Ive been using the Tyger 300r with the JM6 pro and I noticed that when not using it the headphones volume becomes much quieter.

Reasson for my confusion is that people say that the tyger doesnt need any amp/dac becasue its 30 ohms

can someone explain this to me?

Looking for headphone recommendations under $300 mainly for immersive single-player gaming.

Current setup:

  • Plugging directly into my motherboard on PC
  • Need good isolation
  • Mostly single-player games
  • Want clear and immersive sound
  • I’m okay with EQing if neede

Past headphones/IEMs:

  • Razer Blackshark
  • Linsoul 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2

I’m mainly looking for something that feels like a major upgrade in immersion, detail, and overall audio quality compared to gaming headsets. I don’t mind whether it’s open-back or closed-back as long as it fits what I’m looking for.

Any help would be appreciated
