Curious about this rug

Hello! You all were so helpful last week with my failed rug purchase (which ended up getting donated, not worth the trouble), so I figured I’d come back to see what might be known about this rug. We’ve owned it for a while now and I recall us not spending a lot of money on it, but really we know nothing about where it comes from, it’s value, etc. Would love to hear your opinions, thanks in advance!

Repair questions: Is it worth it?

Hello! So my wife and I purchased a Persian Ghashghaei rug (according to the tag) via Facebook Marketplace over the weekend. Overall it seems to be in fantastic condition EXCEPT a tear that’s around 3” long in the center of the rug. We noticed it when we got home and thankfully the seller refunded us our money.

So now we have this beautiful albeit damaged rug and are trying to figure out what to do. I reached out to a local rug company and they estimated 250 to clean it (it’s 5’x8’) and said the repairs would likely be 800-1100. Obviously that’s a lot of money, especially given that we were originally in it for 300 on this rug. Since we got that money back I’m open to putting work into this, but only if it’s actually worth it. And that’s where you fine Redditors come in. I was hoping maybe someone here knows about these style rugs and could maybe provide me with a rough value of what I’m looking at here, and even better if anyone might know what would be a reasonable price to expect for repair so I can figure out if my price quote is in line with reality and whether it’d be worth it or just throwing money into a mediocre piece.

Thanks for your time, I’ve really been enjoying getting into collecting these rugs for my home and am excited to learn more!
