Help!! Irrigation pump not shutting down.
Long story short, fired up my irrigation system today. All 3 zones work as expected. Spray normal, all heads working as they should, etc. however my pump won’t stop running. Pressure gauge on the check valve on the well side of the pump reads basically zero (between 5 and 0). Obviously if that’s accurate, the pressure switch will never kill the pump. Here’s the catch. When I unplug the pump from the 110v outlet, obviously the pump goes off (because I physically cut the power) but the pressure gauge shoots up instantaneously and then I hear very audible click which I believe is the pressure switch activating. Plug the pump back into the wall and it immediately kicks on and pressure goes back to ZERO. I’ve replaced the pressure gauge and the expansion tank since the pressure gauge is cheap insurance and the expansion tank was looking a little rough anyway. After replacing both, the pressure gauge reads 70 psi when I unplug the pump instead of roughly 30 psi when it had the old pressure gauge and expansion tank. I think that has more to do with the expansion tank pressure setting than anything else but I’m not sure. Like I said before, all my sprinkler zones are working as expected so I’m getting good water from the well point. Any ideas as to what might be causing my issue???
