Bike the Hunters Point South Greenway this Friday afternoon, 6/5 at 4pm, to Show Motorists that the Greenway is a Car-free Space

Hi community! As some of you may be aware, the Hunters Point South Greenway is overrun by drivers and photographers parking their large luxury trucks directly on the bike path and sidewalk every summer. Obviously, I and the community have no issue with photography on the Greenway; the problem is motor vehicles being operated on the Greenway, a space specifically designed to be car-free.

Today as I was using the bike path, riding loops around the Greenway, I was yelled at by one of the groups and told that I should stop using the bike path because I was disrupting their photography.

When I asked the group what I should do instead, I was told to use the roadway... the wrong way... with my bicycle.

So, I would like to encourage all of you to join me for loops around the Hunters Point South Park Greenway tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, around 5pm. No need for signs or chants or any sort of coordination. I just want us to use this Greenway for its intended purpose, be it walking, rolling, or biking. I can only disrupt the drivers so much on my own, but I know that a few dozen of us would be enough to dissuade drivers from trying to drive onto the Greenway.

I'll be there either way, doing what I can, but I really hope some of you will join me in using the Greenway tomorrow afternoon, for however long you can.
