This has been traumatic! My very active toddler was running through our hallway when he stumbled right into a wall corner. The visual of blood gushing from his forehead down his face and clothes, both of us crying and screaming has shaken me up.

After an emerge visit, he was given dermabond glue for his 1 cm deep gash that is about 1.5 inches long.

I have since ordered several wall corner pads and covered the hallway with them.

My toddler was back to his super high energy self pretty soon after the hospital. Despite all our strategies of showing him he needs to slow down he is still running, climbing and throwing himself on the floor during tantrums- a threenager after all!

My other source of anxiety is how to get through this healing phase with him while meeting his energy needs. Online it says to avoid playgrounds for a minimum of 2 weeks, but really that we have to be cautious of re-injury for up to 3 months. He didn't even last a day before falling again at home so injuring himself seems like a real risk.

Can anyone share their experience with this? How long did you wait to take your toddlers to playgrounds or more high risk/impact activities? How did you help keep them occupied while still protecting them during this sensitive time? How did the scar heal? Just looking to get some insight.
