Hi all!! I grew up in SF. I moved to the east coast in my early 20’s, bc I want to make it on my own. Built a nice life out here in the big apple. But now in my 40’s… I am extremely homesick. Mostly bc my parents are older now and I want to soak up whatever time I can with them while they are healthy.

How’s the house market in the Bay Area? My older brother makes it look so easy to buy a house. He’s got 2 houses in south SF and one in San Leandro. 2 of the 3 are passive income for him.

While here I am.. looking at houses on Zillow and I’m just like… how the actual hell can anybody afford a house in the peninsula these days and is able to still have money to enjoy life (vacations and luxury things - like spoiled rescued pups)? I need at least a 4 bedroom if I want my parents to live out their golden years with me. I work from home, an office is a must.

Are there any untapped areas like an hour from SF that are on the more affordable side? Are ppl still offering over asking? I want to come home. Thanks!
