Update: Cycling 45 days across Japan for local curries! Reaching Japan's northernmost point (Cape Soya) TODAY! 🍛🚴‍♂️

Hi everyone! 👋

Quick update on my 45-day curry-hunting cycle across Japan! I made it to Hokkaido and am reaching Japan's northernmost tip „Cape Soya“ today! 📍

How it's going so far:

  • 👨‍🍳 6 Curry Chef Interviews: Met amazing local chefs! (The first 2 interviews are already live on our YouTube Shorts!)
  • 🚓 Wild Adventures: Got pulled over by local police, invited into homes by friendly locals for a curry, and accidentally smashed my phone!
  • 🍛 Daily Curry Challenge: Almost eating curry every day, though finding pork-free options is surprisingly tricky due to tonkotsu-based broths.

Join the Cape Soya arrival LIVE today! 🎥

I'm livestreaming the final push to the top:

  • Stream Starts: 21:30 CEST / 3:30 PM EST / 12:30 PM PST / 4:30 AM JST
  • Cape Soya Arrival: 00:00 CEST / 6:00 PM EST / 3:00 PM PST / 7:00 AM JST

Next stop after Hokkaido: flying down to Kyushu to ride back to Tokyo! ✈️🚴‍♂️

Some Questions:

  1. Any must-try curry spots in Wakkanai?
  2. Do you have recommendations for regional curry styles or hidden gems in Kyushu?

Would love to see you in the chat today! 🍛🧡

Cycling Tip to Tip to show the greatness of Japanese Curry Culture

Inspired by Ludwig, Michael and also Connor, I am taking on the task. After the first episode of Tip to Tip, I didn't know why I was so captivated. Before I knew it, it was the thing I looked forward to each day. I was hooked. Watching Tip to Tip. Watching people react to Tip to Tip. Watching Ludwig and Michael react to Tip to Tip. So many tips.

But as it kind of also made sense for me to do the same, I thought: Why not? I'll do it myself.

45 days of cycling the whole length of Japan. Eating different Japanese curries everywhere and interviewing Japanese curry chefs on the way. And while I'm at it, why not stream the whole thing? It would be nice to do it with a friend (like Michael), but it seems like normal people need to work and can't just take 45 days off.

Why am I doing that? I worked for 10 years as an engineer, and a year ago I quit my job and opened my JUST Japanese Curry food truck in Munich. I always thought that a dish like Japanese curry would work amazingly well in Munich. Why is nobody doing it? My food truck has now been running for a year and people are quite happy.

Where am I right now? I made it from Tokyo to the Tip of Hokkaido (Wakkanai), and I am right before Cape Soya. Afterwards, I will fly down with my bike to Kyushu and cycle back up to Tokyo.

As I am not a Tip streamer like Ludwig, my journey is mid. Mid to Mid. I would of course be happy if one or two people would also watch sometimes, but this is not what this is about. I do stream on Youtube and Twitch.

So, a big thank you to Ludwig and Michael for inspiring me.
PS: I am looking forward to Tip to Tip Silkroud

In search of Japan’s best local curries: Cycling 45 days across the country! 🍛🚴‍♂️

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m Tarik. I run a Japanese curry food truck back in Germany, and right now I’m on a 45-day cycling trip across Japan!

Update: I’m currently on Day 10 and just arrived in Sapporo, Hokkaido!📍

Since I cook curry myself, I want to explore the incredible local variations across the country. I’m riding from Tokyo up to Hokkaido, flying down to Kyushu, and cycling back to Tokyo. Everyday I try new local spots and interview curry chefs about their passion and recipes.👨‍🍳

I’m livestreaming the whole journey on YouTube and Twitch! Since curry is often overlooked compared to sushi or ramen, I’d love to share its greatness with more people. 🎥

If you like Japanese food or travel streams, I’d be super grateful if you checked it out or shared it with fellow foodies! If you have any must-try local curry spots, please drop them in the comments!

Thanks a lot and see you on stream! 🍛🧡
