Methylphenidate - Elvanse - Amfexa
Hi all,
TL;DR - Methylphenidate much different to Elvanse? In a way that can mean some do better on one than the other. Or/ ways to make Amfexa last longer.
Long story short-ish, was on 70mg Elvanse with a 10mg Amfexa top up, just felt like this didn’t last long enough and after trying all the reasonable things in my control to help this, just found that taking it at 8am, meant by 1pm I just felt crap, brain back to normal and possibly worse.
Moved to 60mg Amfexa split throughout the day. Been on this for the past year or so.
20mg in one go helps, great whilst it lasts, but again seems to leave the system quickly, or at least I stop feeling the benefits in under 2 hours, meaning I either have to have the second 20mg a lot earlier than I’d like, or put up with feeling a bit crap before the next dose.
Splitting the dose into say 4x 15mg doesn’t really help as it doesn’t seem to touch the sides.
I guess the main question is, is there anything sciencey that would mean that Methylphenidate Extended Release would be any better for me? I know nothing about the science.
Failing that if there’s anyway to help extend the Amfexa benefits.
I will obviously speak to my Dr about this, but worry that if I mention I’m looking to switch it up, they will not let me come back to Amfexa should Methylphenidate not be for me.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
