When looking at Bright Local's breakdown of Google's algorithm for local organic search (NOT the map pack)...

Does it stand to reason that even if you absolutely NAIL on-page, you can still be outranked by someone who has more backlinks? Or does the QUALITY of the backlinks come into play? For example if some site had thousands of backlinks, but you came in with relevant local specific links (thinks chamber of commerce, local youth sports teams, etc.) could you out-rank them?

What is the best process for keyword strategy for Local SEO?

As it pertains to a home services business?

For example, if you have an electrical contractor that provides multiple services in multiple towns, what is the best way to map out which exact keywords and clusters you want to target for each particular service/area hub and for the individual service x location pages?

Actual A2P Consent Compliance as Apposed to Registration

So I know that tons of local SEO agencies are now employing an automated review request system for their clients via SMS. And I know all about A2P registration itself - and I've seen that it is usually "gamed." (meaning, do whatever you have to do, including building a fake website on a subdomain for your clients in order to pass A2P verification so you can start sending SMS for them).

But the question I rarely see answered is "What about the actual consent requirement and the legal ramifications of not actually getting consent from every client customer you are sendind SMS to." And it can have REAL penalties (like up to $1,500 per message sent in the US).

So is everyone just relying on the fact that review requests are covered under 'implied consent,' because I highly doubt if ANYONE is actually tracking consent for each of the clients' customers and then gating SMS outreach to only customers that have opted in. And then there's the DNC list, which I don't think anyone is gating for either.

Are any of you concerned about this and the potential liability it could cause for not only your own business, but your client's business as well? Or are we all just firing off SMS review requests and hoping for the best?

Genuinely curious, thanks.
