What are your bellydance hot takes?
To get over yet another monotonous Monday, I figured a fun little discussion would lift our spirits! Write down as many hot takes as you feel; any number is fine! Remember to be respectful, though <3
Here are my hot takes...
Golden Era dancers are amazing, and I'm currently studying and learning their style; however, some of us compare modern dancers to them way too much. Some people have different dance styles, and that's perfectly fine. I don't like when I see people idolize Samia Gamal and her peers while tearing down other dancers with different styles.
If you s*xualize or f*tishize bellydance as a dancer, I now view you as an entertainer rather than a dancer. Bellydance can be s*nsual, flirty, and attractive, but some people take it way too far. We already struggle with people taking our dance and performances seriously; we don't need any more added to that.
The use of the words oriental, h*rem, and f*rtility just do not need to be used in relation to bellydance anymore atp, it's just weird lmao.
Dancers look all sorts of ways, and that's beautiful; expecting every dancer to look the same and move the same is just idiocy.
Songs that feel like knowing too much? Or stumbling upon something dark?
Hip scarves I made recently!
The second one I actually sold for twenty dollars so if you want to buy a custom handmade scarf hmu!
Do any other dancers feel a pressure to shave?
I kind of stick to dresses because I don't like shaving also shaving hurts my skin easily so when I do shave it's sparingly but I also never see hairy dancers and I'm wondering do I have to shave lol?
Ladies who wants to dance together like this?
youtu.beMe whenever a Sabah Alamy song comes on😂😁
I love Iraq too much 😁🇮🇶
Designs I've made for my bedlah business choose your favorite and feel free to add any constructive criticism.
Design one is called: Farasha🦋
Design two I think I'll name: Shams☀️
Design three: Houriyat Al Bahr 🧜🏾♀️
Which one is your favorite?
Dealing with creeps how do you ladies(and gents and) deal with them?
I recently posted asking for constructive criticism but instead got a less than savory response. I want to post but honestly I don't know if my skin is thick enough to deal with weirdos and naysayers.
Hoping to start a business selling handmade bedlahs made by me ofc💜
I'm doing a bit of market research here since I like wearing galabeyyas and dresses more than bedlahs. What are you looking for in a bedlah in terms of fit, flexibility, and style. What price range are you willing to pay for it? What makes a high priced bedlah worth it to you?
