PSA/YSK: Hyatt award bookings made without enough points may not lock in the pre-May 20 pricing

I know this is probably a bit late, but posting in case it helps anyone trying to make last-minute bookings before the May 20 award chart change.

I asked my Globalist concierge what happens if a reservation is made before the award chart changes, but I don’t actually have enough points in my account yet, so the points are not redeemed at the time of booking.

Their answer was:

“Once the time comes to apply the points, any reservations that were made without the points being redeemed at the time of booking will be recalculated according to the new award chart in effect at the time of redemption.”

So the important distinction seems to be:

A normal points booking where the points are actually deducted before May 20 should lock in the current pricing.

But a booking that is only being held/requested/arranged before May 20, without the points actually being redeemed, may be repriced under the new chart when the points are finally applied.

In other words, don’t assume that simply asking a concierge to make the booking before the deadline is enough if the points are not already in your account and redeemed.

Not trying to present this as a universal policy statement, just sharing what my concierge confirmed in writing because it could save someone from an unpleasant surprise.
