Blackbird Rehab - did I fail this poor bairn?

This little sausage, a juvenile blackbird I believe, absolutely slammed my patio doors a couple hours ago. I moved the poor thing into a shoe box and let it recuperate for a couple hours in my garage (to keep it in the dark and out of the worst of the heat)

When I went to check on it after about 2 hours it hopped straight out the box and down the garden, it wasn't flying too well but it was able to get up in the air and eventually glide out of my garden into the back field.

This photo is of the bird about 5 minutes after the initial impact and just before I lifted it into the box. After it landed in the back field I noticed that its right wing was still drooping (as seen in this photo), my question is would it have been able to even glide if the wing was broken? I'm not experienced with this sort of thing but maybe I should've given it longer to recuperate.
