Not sure how much damage should be inflicted
So my group met up last night, and had a combat encounter with a bunch of gnolls and a hill giant. Towards the end of combat, one of my players was down with two failed death saves, and the hill giant ended up grabbing his unconscious body and throwing him at the soldiers that were supporting the group.
Now one way or the other, he flew far enough for us to agree he would take fall damage, which of course would inflict the last death save to kill his character, luckily he wasn't salty about. But the thing we're trying to figure out for future reference is the fact that the hill giant rolled a critical hit for his throw, and how exactly that should affect the damage that his character, as the projectile, should take. Should he only take the "fall" damage for traveling a certain distance? Or should he be subject to the same damage roll inflicted on the soldier he crashed into, and therefore the critical hit as well?
