The greatness of Krug GC
Some thoughts on this incredible tasting done a few hours ago with a good friend and paired with sushi. Seeing these three side-by-side tells such a story about the evolution of Krug.
Krug Grande Cuvée "Second Generation" (White Label): Even with that deep amber color, it was stunning. It felt like an elegant gentleman in a tailored suit—mature, composed, and perfectly put together. What really surprised me was how it evolved; the more time passed in the glass, the better it became. Truly timeless.
Krug "Foglioline" (probably 4th generation): This one was all about pastry notes and incredible acidity. It feels like it’s exactly at its peak right now. The balance between that rich, gourmand nose and the freshness on the palate is just insane.
Krug 164ème Édition: Magnificent. Being based on the 2008 vintage, it has that classic, razor-sharp acidity 2008 is known for. It started off very vertical but softened up beautifully after a couple of hours.
Three incredible bottles, each with a different soul. Not much else to add—Krug is just in a league of its own.
