Just picked up a Yamaha KX-500!

Just picked up a Yamaha KX-500!

Better pics later but just picked up this immaculate looking Yamaha KX-500.

Amorphous head, 2 heads, Dolby B, C and HX Pro.

But most importantly, a beautiful blue and red VFD display.

Apparently the lower end KX-300 and higher end KX-800 are the better sounding decks for recording but I'll mostly use it for playback anyway. (*And as visual entertainment*)

Need some help restoring Wengé dining table

Hey there, I could use some help restoring this wengé (from the Millettia laurentii tree) dining table that used to belong to my grandparents and was used by my sister for a couple of years after my grandparents died.

The edges and the legs are solid wood and the top looks like a veneer.

My father remembers they had it at least since 1979, if not earlier, so it's nearly 50 years old but still in pretty good shape! But yeah, the finish is a little worn.

As far as I know and can tell it has been both waxed and oiled at different points in its life.

I've read the wood splinters like crazy and is toxic when inhaled so whatever I do, I will need gloves, a respirator and goggles if I decide to sand it for example.

How do I best treat this and restore it to a beautiful (darkish) finish?
