Dear MFG, Let me save somebody

I just finished playing your mission surrounding the hot air balloon just south of the zone.

First of all, it's a great mission from a story telling aspect. A lot of your missions are great, but this one really hit me on an emotional level.

For those of you who may be unaware, the mission requires you to find the body of a young woman who has gone missing after her parents evacuated. You can assume the worst from here.

Within Lamang these stories are, unfortunately, not uncommon. We typically see them from Lab Rat and Artisan. But time and again, no one survives either the impact of the zone, nor the after effects of its lore, and the society built around it.

Ultimately, I think this is fine. Reading the in-game newspapers and journals, I can see how fucked up of a situation our operators are in.

But the rape and death of a young life just...sends things home a bit.

Let me save hostages from Midnight Sapphire.

Let me *destroy* a human trafficking ring within blue lagoon, and save its victims.

Let me extract a family through the efforts of Lab Rat.

Let me secure the exfiltration of a little girl from an LZ through Artisan - just to make up for the fact that I couldn't save the one from the hot air balloon.

Let me bring hate and discontent upon this land, and by the blessings of the developers, let me save someone an extra day to live within this world.

I'm ranting, but I feel like one of those poor search and rescue dogs from 9/11. Give me a bone.

Much love for what you're doing MFG

This is a two-fold post of a couple different features that I think would be cool to implement into the game:

  1. A Garmin style watch with TAK software that functions as a mini-map / Compass.

Why? It can reduce UI elements and incorporate a more immersive play style.

How it works: it could display quick location and directional information within a 100-300m radius for friendly positions and quest locations.

Reference: Check Bellum's use of a tactical watch to display localized TAK data.

-

  1. Turn the DSLR camera into a full-fledged in-game photo feature that can be used by player POV.

Why? Lamang is beautiful and both casual players and content creators alike could use a built-in immersive camera system.

How it works: the in-game DSLR asset can be held in the handgun slot and enables up to 4x zoom functionality.

When "fired" the DSLR will take a picture that can later be saved to the players profile or local file system. I would advise that alternate "firing modes" should be used to be inclusive for 3rd party game capture as well, by removing UI elements within the camera in order to achieve max cinema.

Furthermore, you could use it for Intel tasks. "Take a photo of the burn pit" or "get photos of the boss at..."

I genuinely don't know if anyone else would like these features, and I certainly know there are bigger fish to fry in the development pipeline. Just wistfully thinking aloud here.
