first car, first time looking to upgrade the speakers, looking for recommendations from experienced heads

  • What are your goals for your car audio system - as loud as possible (SPL)? Sound quality (SQ)? Some combination of both? Describe to us how you want your system to sound.

I listen to a lot of rock and metal, but also softer alt-pop and Soul/R&B. I'd put a priority on a mostly-balanced speaker with good clarity through the mids and highs, while still packing a decent bass punch. This is going to be used on long commutes so I'm more interested in a comfortable, hearing-safe listening experience than maximum volume or rattling my bones.

  • What vehicle? - year, make, model, type (coupe, sedan, SUV, truck, etc.)

Vauxhall Agila B (aka Opel Agila B, Suzuki Splash).

  • What is your maximum budget?

Ideal: £100-150 Will go up to ~£200 if there's a noticeable jump in that range. I build PCs so I know a few quid extra can sometimes be a big difference in performance, but I know jack about car audio.

  • Will you be installing the gear or are you going to a shop? If a shop is doing the work, does your budget include the cost of labor?

Do it myself.

  • What gear is in your existing system? (Is it stock? List any aftermarket gear.)

OEM

  • What is your country of purchase? Leave any finishing thoughts here.

UK

Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions! I know it's a cheap banger first car but speakers are something I can take back out when I'm done with it.
