Has anyone had any success looking into the mind-body connection

So I've been dealing with GERD for three years now. I had very unusual symptoms to start (just yawning repeatedly and only at night) until my symptoms started to bleed into the day and become more classic (throat pain, regurgitation, trouble swallowing, stomach pain etc.)

I'm currently on leave from work again after just having returned after an extended time off. I did a gradual return to work plan and once I entered training for my new role I started having significant symptoms that would last from when I woke up to the time my work day would usually end.

My therapist has started me on a pain reprocessing workbook and I'm waiting to see a psychiatrist for an anti-anxiety drug, but being off work I'm noticing that my symptoms have greatly decreased and I'm even able to eat trigger foods for dinner (which I never would have been able to do before).

Has anyone had any luck in reducing symptoms (severity or time suffering) through psychological counseling?

Just wondering what your thoughts are on that?
