It's such a shame they probably won't change the older existing compasses to the new one. It's so much easier and enjoyable to use instead of having to comb through every inch of the area spamming z and still miss enough chests.
Not to mention that even when it says "100%" there's still uncollected chests in that area.
Or worse with dragonspine, since there's not even a compass for that region.
