HDD lost partition data.
Hello.
Recently my old laptop stopped working due to an unfixable MB/PS issue. After I got the diagnose I asked the technicians at the shop to remove both storage drives (SSD+HDD) and return them to me separately so that I could recover some of the data using an enclosure.
Since I currently only have an enclosure for 2.5'' HDD drives i started with that one. Yesterday I put the drive in, hooked it up to an older Windows 10 PC and started copying the most important data, everything went fine. Today my new laptop (Win11) arrived and I tried attaching the enclosure but it wouldn't display the drive. After checking in the storage management the drive now shows as one unassigned partition. In order to get the drive back in working order Win11 wants me to format it. Now, even my old PC displays the drive as non partitioned. This particular HDD was not the system drive, just additional data storage with a regular NTFS file system.
What did I do wrong?
Is therere a way to restore the drive without losing the data that's on it?
Is there a way to avoid the same issue happening when I try the same procedure with the SSD drive in a few days?
